Project Description
This painting project was the largest of its kind ever released at one time in North America. Located between the Boroughs of Manhattan and Queens in central New York City. It is a complex cantilever steel bridge, originally designed to support carriage, tram and rail traffic. Its current usage has 13 lanes on both upper and lower decks for automotive traffic, and one lane on the north outer deck reserved for pedestrian and bicycle use.
The Queensboro Bridge is a riveted steel structure with approximately 8,500,000 square feet of coat-able structural steel. It has five spans with an overall length is 7449 feet and the width is 100 feet. The bridge is 350 feet high, from the top of the cantilever to the water below.
